Performance

About the programme

Vivo D’Arte’s aim is to nurture the next generation of performers through musical theatre training, equipping them with the skills to step confidently onto the stage. We offer numerous performance opportunities throughout the academic year on a course designed to help hone skills and allow every performer to realise their full potential and take the next step towards drama school.

We take a person-centred approach to ensure that our students leave us where they want to be. Our team of industry professional tutors guides our students to help them become dream candidates for any drama institution.

We believe learning through performance is the greatest way to prepare for a life in musical theatre. Therefore, throughout the year, students will not only experience technical classes of the highest calibre, but will rehearse and perform in full-scale musicals, plays, concerts, revues, cabarets, and devised works. Every student will be pushed to become the best version of themselves as a person and a performer. And all within a safe and animating space!

The life of an artist can be a tough one. And this is something that we do not shy away from. Our tutors will assist in discovering each student’s most suitable casting bracket, without neglecting the many off-stage practicalities concerning a career in the theatre industry. We have real-life experience of the many challenges faced as applicants, students, and professional performers. It is with that in mind that we guide our students through a dynamic and often unpredictable industry with a view to creating well-rounded, refined and adaptable artists.

Who is the programme designed for?

You should be aged 18+ and have a strong desire to study Musical Theatre at drama school/conservatoire level.

All of our teachers have experience of studying at the world’s best colleges and we want to pass on that experience and knowledge to help our students realise their potential in getting to their dream schools. It is our hope that we provide the leg-up and be the first stepping-stone in a highly successful career.

And we understand that financial constraints can often be an issue. So, our course provides an opportunity for those who cannot afford formal, full-time training. We as a company believe that everybody should have the chance to pursue their dreams if they have the talent, but more importantly the desire and work-ethic that is required, and should not be bound by any external limitations.

And there is ample free parking with coffee and shopping close by.

Course details term by term

The musical theatre training course is split into six terms across the year

Each of our terms offers distinct activities. Beginning with a term of intensive training, through to an immersive site-specific production at the end of the year, we offer a wide range of opportunities.

Term 1

Intensive
training

The first term will be intensive musical theatre training across a range of disciplines. In order to hone and advance students’ existing skills. So, working with our professional team of tutors and coaches, they will be prepared with a solid technical grounding for the intensive life of drama school. On top of intensive classes, students will rehearse for a halloween cabaret taking place on the last Friday of term.

Term 2

Immersive
musical

The winter term will be spent casting and rehearsing a fully-staged immersive musical at Vivo HQ. Students will work covering multiple tracks to establish a grounding in the workings of professional musical theatre and prepare them for casting as it will be at drama school and beyond. This will be over multiple performances to give students as much opportunity on stage as is possible.

Term 3

Play and
workshops

The first spring term will see the company explore acting repertoire to hone their grounding in non-musical theatre material. This will culminate in a fully staged play production at Vivo HQ. Alongside this, students will be taught and guided by visiting lecturers and industry professionals from elite colleges and institutions.

Term 4

The
showcase

The Easter term 2023 will shift focus to an industry-style showcase for all students. Each student will be given the opportunity to perform on their own to demonstrate their strengths and casting, as well as being a part of the wider ensemble.

Term 5

Student led
production

The first of our two summer terms will see a student led production of a musical, condensed down to an hour. Overseen by our professional tutors, we aim to give our students experience in taking on different production and performance based roles to give them a wide array of experience, enabling them to have a full appreciation of what is required to produce theatre.

Term 6

Full scale
musical

The final term will consist of a full scale, immersive musical production in an external, regional venue.

The costs

Value for money
